Keiser University Band Members Perform in National Halftime Show

Keiser University band members Alexander Carrasco, Vuleiyo Jackson, and Tia Riddle recently joined 1500 participants from 200 college bands to participate in the College Football Playoff National Championship game’s virtual halftime show. Representing 45 states and Puerto Rico, the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Event was presented by GPG Music and featured the music of Beyonce.

Having debuted in 2018, the Keiser University Seahawk Band now performs at all home football games and continues to expand, as melody and song lovers can now enjoy music classes and participation in a pep ensemble. “It’s no surprise that our band members were part of this important event,” said Keiser University Flagship campus president Dr. Gary Vonk. “Their winning attitudes and willingness to become involved in community events exemplify our Seahawk Spirit.”

The group is gearing-up for an indoor percussion, guard and wind group competition to be held Sunday, February 28th, 2021. To learn more about the many opportunities offered by the band, please complete the interest form at www.keiserband.com or contact Director Dr. Andrew Hayward at [email protected]. Hayward has been active in the marching arts as a performer, educator, designer, and adjudicator for over twenty years and has won awards at local, state, and regional competitions. He received his D.M.A in clarinet performance from Rutgers University in New Jersey under the guidance of Jessica Phillips of the MET Opera.  A former member of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, he gives back to the activity he loves by inspiring students to reach for new levels of excellence.
