KU Tampa Campus Biomedical Science Students Enjoy ‘Business of Biotech’ Seminar

Biomedical Science students from Keiser University’s Tampa campus recently attended the Business of Biotech 2020 event held at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. The 14th annual conference highlighted novel cancer screening procedures and provided a sneak a peek into the minds of cancer researchers and medical entrepreneurs.

The group enjoyed a keynote address from journalist Charles Gibson and inventor Dr. Alice Jacobs. Students then took part in several sessions and participated in a tour of the labs, vivarium, and hospital.

“This is the fifth year that Keiser University students have attended the event, and we are very grateful for the learning opportunities that the Moffitt Cancer Center has presented to our students and to the community,” said Dr. Canfield.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for entry into health sciences and analytical/research laboratories. Graduates possess the skills to perform in a variety of science-related positions in health departments, zoos, clinical and environmental chemistry, pharmaceutics, and laboratories.  Graduates of the program will have completed the prerequisites necessary to be successful in graduate programs in the sciences as well as a multitude of professional programs such as occupational and physical therapy, dentistry, pharmacy, physician and physician assistant programs. However, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences can also be a terminal program for individuals who wish to work in laboratory settings and other occupations.
