KU-Tallahassee Commencement Features Class Ready to Enter the Workforce
Keiser University’s Tallahassee campus will celebrate spring commencement on Friday, June 1, at Christian Heritage Church. More than 60 students will accept their degrees in front of their proud family, friends, faculty, and campus staff.
“I have seen this group of graduates become more involved with campus activities and associations such as Student Government and Student Veterans of America. I am confident that this class will step into the next phase of their career prepared to employ the skills they have acquired at Keiser University.” Campus President Maria Mead said.
The student speaker and valedictorian for this graduating class is Caitlin Roberts, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In her speech, she plans to describe her educational journey and the support system she needed to guide her through it. Caitlin praises her husband, family and Keiser University professors for their encouragement and reassurance. The salutatorian Catherine Marchant earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
This year’s commencement speaker is Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil, who has served in his current position since his election in 2016. In his distinguished 35-year career as a public servant, Sheriff McNeil has led the fight against crime in Tallahassee, has been tapped to lead two state agencies under former Gov. Charlie Crist, and has advised the Obama White House, and other governments around the globe, on law enforcement strategies and tactics.
For more than 40 years, Keiser University has been a talent development leader providing over 100 doctoral through Associate’s degrees in workforce shortage areas in Florida’s targeted industries. Keiser’s “students first” philosophy combines foundational skills, leadership preparation, financial literacy, student support services – including tutoring, writing and math labs. Campuses throughout the state provide convenient scheduling options for students, many of whom are working adults. This graduating class consists of many students who will walk across the stage to accept their Associate’s degree now and who will walk for their Bachelor’s degree later, as they have decided to continue their education with Keiser University.
