Nursing Student is Thankful for Keiser University’s Curriculum and Hands-On Learning Opportunities

Kayleen Mesa was thankful to roll-up her sleeves by delving into nursing classes in her first semester as a student at the Keiser University Flagship campus, and now in addition to concentrating on her studies, the Flagship campus senior is gaining hands-on experience as part of her clinical rotations at various Palm Beach County hospitals.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing senior recognizes the increased demand for healthcare workers during the unprecedented season of COVID19 and looks forward to her professional career. “Keiser University has been preparing me since the beginning of my academic experience for my role in healthcare by establishing a strong foundation of knowledge,” she said. “I am happy to be in my last semester of nursing school and thankful that in less than three months I will be able to help other nurses deal with the influx of patients, as there are so many who require patient-centered care,” she said.

The Keiser University traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered for students beginning their first professional nursing program. Graduates will be prepared to provide compassionate, patient-centered, culturally competent nursing care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations in a variety of settings, using evidence-based knowledge and skills related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management, and end-of-life care to improve healthcare outcomes. They will practice in partnership with patients as members and leaders of interprofessional healthcare teams, utilizing the most current healthcare technologies. Successful completion of this program qualifies graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.
