Keiser University Ranked No. 5 in Social Mobility by U.S. News and World Report

Keiser University was once again named one of the best colleges and universities in the country in providing social mobility to its students according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best Colleges ranking. Keiser earned the No. 5 spot in the Top Performers in Social Mobility subcategory and was the No. 1 rated university in Florida for the grouping.

“We are very pleased to earn such high marks in social mobility for a third year in a row,” said Arthur Keiser, Ph.D., Chancellor of Keiser University. “Keiser University is dedicated to providing access and opportunity to a diverse population of students and we’re pleased to include this goal in our commitment to student success.”

The Top Performers in Social Mobility subcategory ranks colleges and universities on their ability to graduate economically disadvantaged students. This is the third year U.S. News has included a ranking for social mobility. A university’s social mobility ranking is  computed by aggregating two ranking factors that measure graduation rates of Pell-awarded students: Pell Grant graduation rates and Pell Grant graduation rate performance.

Keiser University has continued its climb as one of the best schools in the country for economically disadvantaged students, earning a top spot on the Social Mobility ranking in each of the three years since U.S. News first published the list. In 2020, Keiser took the No. 34 overall spot and in 2021 Keiser ranked No. 11 in the category.

For the 2022 edition, Keiser earned the highest marks in Social Mobility among 14 Florida public and private colleges and universities that earned a spot on the list.

In addition to its spot on the social mobility ranking, Keiser earned a top 400 rating among all schools in the National Universities category. This is only the third year Keiser has been listed in the National University category which includes schools that are mostly research-oriented and offer a full range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Keiser moved from the Regional Universities grouping in 2020 as a result of its Carnegie Classification as a Doctoral/Professional University.

The 2022 US News & World Report rankings assesses more than 1,400 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 metrics and places the largest emphasis on a college’s ability to retain and graduate its students. Other factors include class size, undergraduate academic reputation, and how much a school spends per student on instruction and other related educational expenses.

“As the fifth best university in the country for social mobility, we are honored to continue delivering education that helps our students create positive outcomes in their lives,” said Keiser. “This ranking further reinforces our commitment to providing our students with an education that leads to career success.”

For nearly half a century, Keiser University continues to address the talent needs of Florida. Most of Keiser’s academic degrees are in industries identified as emerging or critically needed and address job growth in Florida’s targeted industries.

Keiser University is a private, independent, non-profit university serving nearly 20,000 students at 21 Florida campuses, online, and two international sites. Co-founded in 1977 by Chancellor Arthur Keiser, Ph.D., and Evelyn Keiser, Keiser University currently offers more than 100 degrees from associates to the doctoral level. Keiser University is a member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and was ranked No. 5 in the U.S. in Social Mobility by U.S. News and World Reports in 2022.
