Paralegal Studies Graduate is Thankful to Jumpstart Community Service, Entrepreneurial Goals

As she works to fulfill her community service and entrepreneurial goals, Army Veteran Tshura Jones looks forward to being awarded her Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies at Keiser University’s West Palm Beach Campus Commencement Ceremony to be held Thursday, May 1st, 2025  at Keiser University’s Flagship Campus.

“As a Veteran, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of legal advocacy, particularly in areas like immigration, where many individuals face significant challenges. My entrepreneurial ventures have further reinforced my passion for law, as I often find myself navigating complex regulations and policies. This combination of personal experience and professional ambition drives my aspiration to deepen my legal expertise,” said Jones, who serves as an immigration consultant and is also applying knowledge gained toward her natural hair product business.

Jones said she was attracted to Keiser University because of its reputation for supporting fellow Veterans, its small class sizes, professors with real-world experience, and the hands-on learning opportunities it provides. “The university’s commitment to providing practical, career-oriented education resonated with my desire for a program that would not only equip me with knowledge but also prepare me for real-world challenges,” she said.

As Jones looks forward to continued career growth, she thanks mentors like Professor Gary Chapman, who she says was instrumental in her academic journey. “His profound knowledge and ability to break down complex legal concepts into understandable lessons not only motivated me to excel but also ignited a passion for law within me. His teaching style encouraged critical thinking and inspired me to pursue a Bachelor’s in Legal Studies, as I realized that a deeper understanding of legal principles would empower me to better serve my clients and enhance my business operations,” she said while adding that as she continues to pursue her bachelor’s degree, she plans to assist many. “I envision creating a robust platform that not only addresses the legal needs of my clients,” said Jones, who also earned her Master of Science degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2014.

Jones advises fellow learners to ‘pursue their passions relentlessly.’

“Education is a critical component of achieving your dreams, but so is resilience and the willingness to learn from every experience. Surround yourself with supportive individuals who believe in your potential and never underestimate the power of networking and community,” she said.

Keiser University’s Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies prepares students to support attorneys in transactional and litigation fields through legal research, document drafting, case management, evidence gathering, and the litigation procedure. Paralegals are often involved in trial assistance and other dispute resolution processes, as well as with the preparation of real estate documents, wills, trusts, contracts, corporate matters, and law office investigations.
