After Receiving Care as an Athlete, Keiser University Doctor of Chiropractic Student is One-Step Closer to Treating Others

Initially drawn to learn more about the treatment and prevention of injuries due to his experience as a life-long baseball player, Keiser University College of Chiropractic Medicine (KUCCM) student Christopher Wydler looks forward to caring for athletes after earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in April 2023.

Having entered the sport as a little leaguer when he was just five, Wydler shared that he still maintains a love for the game despite periodic injuries that limited full mobility until receiving chiropractic care as an adult. As a result, he’s zeroed in on a career in alternative medicine after earning his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with a focus on Biomechanics and Kinematics from Ave Maria University in 2019.

Now just months away from his graduation ceremony and with plans to eventually open his own practice, he’s thankful for the passion his educational experience has instilled while dedicating time and attention to lectures, laboratory work, and clinical training opportunities. When asked what he’d recommend to others who are striving to realize their goals, Wydler shared several recommendations which included a reminder to celebrate daily successes – even the tiny ones, to strive to ‘be better than the day before,’ and that professors should regularly be approached with questions as ‘they are never afraid to help.’

With the mission of graduating caring and critically thinking healthcare professionals who are focused on spine care, the Keiser University Spine Care Clinic provides a variety of treatments including chiropractic spinal manipulation, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Class II Laser Therapy, physiotherapy modalities, therapeutic exercises, and more. All care is administered by senior student interns under the direct supervision of attending faculty clinicians. The Doctor of Chiropractic program at Keiser University is a rigorous professional program consisting of ten semesters of study which are completed over 40 months.  It combines traditional lectures with small group learning, weekly conferences and seminars, laboratory and experiential sessions, and clinical training opportunities at a number of sites.  All coursework includes case-based relevancy for chiropractic practice as a portal-of-entry profession dedicated to excellence in spine care.
