High School Students Enjoy ‘A Day in the Life of a Nurse’
South Florida high school students recently enjoyed gaining insights into ‘The Day in a Life of a Nurse’ as they joined Keiser University Flagship Campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing program leaders and students.
The Palm Beach Gardens High School Medical Academy juniors and seniors attended presentations and participated in discussions with leaders in the field while learning more about the many career paths and multiple specialties for nursing professionals. They then rolled up their sleeves to participate in simulation lab exercises with adult and infant manikins and enjoyed a tour of campus.
“Our goal was to inspire and enhance the knowledge of the prospective students about nursing including the role of the BSN Registered Nurse, the purpose of being a nurse, the impact nurses have on people and health care, the many career opportunities and just being aware of the day to day duties in the nurses’ life,” said Keiser University Flagship Campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Director Alida Bowman.
Keiser University’s traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered for students beginning their first professional nursing program. Graduates will be prepared to provide compassionate, patient-centered, culturally competent nursing care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations in a variety of settings, using evidence-based knowledge and skills related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management, and end-of-life care to improve healthcare outcomes. They will practice in partnership with patients as members and leaders of interprofessional healthcare teams, utilizing the most current healthcare technologies. Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.
Keiser University is a private, independent, non-profit university serving nearly 20,000 students at 21 Florida campuses, online, and two international sites.
