International Student Embraces Her Roots During Hispanic Heritage Month

Student Karla Henriquez is embracing an exciting new season of life as she applies the knowledge she’s gained through international domestication and travel toward her goal of earning her International Business degree at Keiser University’s West Palm Beach Flagship campus.

A native of El Salvador and transfer student from Keiser University’s San Marcos, Nicaraguan campus, Henriquez is applying her extensive cultural and travel experiences toward her pursuit of business success.

“As a non-stop learner, I wanted to live the Flagship Campus experience because of its academic and cultural diversity. I enjoy being challenged academically and gaining new perspectives and have discovered the subjects that most thrill me as I work toward what I want to accomplish in life,” said Henriquez who plans to develop a plant-based line of healthy supplements after graduation. “I love the amiability and cordiality of staff members, and most of the friends I have made are unique, friendly, and open-minded, and since most of us have different nationalities, we enjoy getting to know each other as we expand our cultural knowledge,” she said.

When asked what she’d recommend to other students who are striving to realize their goals, Henriquez reflected.Be bold and courageous enough to follow your dreams and accomplish your goals no matter the obstacles,” she smiled.

Designed to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success, Hispanic Heritage Month highlights a variety of documents, exhibits, films, blog posts and more that highlight Hispanic culture.
