Keiser University Alumna Becomes Member of Elite Florida Emergency Response Team
Shannon Pinkosky faced the daunting task of going to college in her forties while working full-time and being a single mother of two. Four years later, she has earned her Associate of Science in Crime Scene Technology degree from Keiser University’s Fort Lauderdale campus and is a member of an elite emergency response team.
The Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System (FEMORS) is a dedicated team of first responders deployed to mass casualty events within Florida. The investigative and identification process in a mass fatality situation is a multidisciplinary endeavor requiring multiple forensic and medical specialists to come together rapidly, often under adverse conditions. The FEMORS task force duties may include initial scene response and evaluation, processing the scene, temporary morgue operations and administration, victim Identification, disposition of human remains, evidence collection, and more.
Pinkosky says enrolling in the Crime Scene Technology Program at Keiser University was the best decision she has ever made. She credits the dedication and instruction of her professors at Keiser University for providing her the foundation to become a member of FEMORS.
“We are pleased to see our graduates obtaining the education and skills that allow them to become members of such an elite team of first responders in our state,” said Arthur Keiser, Ph.D., Chancellor, and CEO of Keiser University.
