Keiser University Athletes Take Home Top Honors at Hall of Fame Awards Celebration
Keiser University faculty, staff and students are proud to recognize three members of the Seahawk family who were honored among the best-of-the-best in Palm Beach County this past Sunday at the 45th Annual Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame Awards Celebration presented by Baptist Health.
Hosted by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, several Palm Beach County coaches, athletes, and community leaders joined family and friends at the Palm Beach Kennel Club to celebrate and honor the achievements of the sports notables.
Keiser University Seahawk winners included:
- Haylie Young – Female High School Athlete of the Year – Flag Football
- Sage Chen-Young – Amateur Athlete of the Year – Football
- Gavin Oldham – Coach of the Year – Soccer
“It was an honor to have four people from Keiser University nominated for awards at the Palm Beach County Hall of Fame. They were a lot of great nominees and for us to capture three of the awards was outstanding. I am proud of the work that our four nominees put in each day, and happy to see their efforts recognized,” said Director of Athletics Kris Swogger.
Inductees into the organization’s Hall of Fame included former Royal Palm Beach High School head football coach Willie Bueno, former NFL wide receiver Pierre Garcon, longtime equestrian star Laura Kraut, NFL punter and Palm Beach Central High School graduate Pat O’Donnell, NFL place kicker Cody Parkey, longtime local sports broadcaster Steve Politziner, and Palm Beach Central High School graduate/baseball standout and former Major League Baseball player Devon Travis.
Keiser University Women’s Lacrosse Coach Lauren Bennett was also nominated as Coach of the Year. Honorees were also recognized in the areas of Special Olympics Athlete, Outstanding Sports Contributor, Champion of Equity and Diversity in Sports, Palm Beach County Sports Commission Trailblazer, Dick Moroso Memorial Motorsports, and more.
