Keiser University Celebrates Sixth Annual Statewide Graduation

Hollywood, Florida – January 20, 2018 Keiser University proudly kicked off its 41st year with a statewide graduation ceremony on Saturday, January 20 at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood. About1,200 guests cheered on more than 350 graduates from a variety of locations.

“As we celebrate over 40 years of putting students first, we applaud our students for reaching this milestone,” said Belinda Keiser, Vice Chancellor. “As they embrace the professional world, we also enjoy learning of their continued success as we continue to encourage lifelong learning, leadership, and community service.”

Keiser University Football Coach Doug Socha served as the keynote speaker addressing the graduates during the graduation ceremony. Socha, who has been named Coach of the Year from a variety of organizations including the Sun-Sentinel, Nike, the Miami Dolphins, the Gulf Atlantic and Gulf Coast Conferences, joined the Seahawks from the Buffalo Bills, where he spent the previous season as an offensive assistant.
As part of the event, Keiser University recognized Florida companies Team Horner and Memorial Health Systems with the Employer Choice Awards.  The honor noted the continued support the companies have shown to KU students and graduates, as well as their ability to serve as employer, externship and internship sites that provide students the ability to gain the skills needed to advance in today’s workforce.

The valedictorian for the class of 2017-2018 was Angela Rivas, who had earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from Keiser University’s Fort Myers campus. With the motto of ‘Never giving up on oneself, and staying in faith as it is never too late to become the person that God envisioned’, Rivas considers her role as wife and mother as her greatest job. Salutatorian Amanda McKnight attended Keiser University’s Ecampus and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences
