West Palm Beach, Florida – Keiser University’s Golf Classic raised more than $317,000 for student scholarships this year while paying tribute to the late Coach Rollie Massimino. Over 120 golfers joined Keiser University leaders and community partners at the PGA National Resort & Spa’s Champions Course to participate in the event, held on Friday, January 12, 2018.

“This year we were thankful to honor Coach Massimino, a true sport’s legend, student mentor and friend,” said Dr. Arthur Keiser, Chancellor and CEO. “It is our distinct privilege to highlight his life and legacy at this year’s tournament.”

NCAA Championship Coach Rollie Massimino admirably guided the Keiser University Seahawks men’s basketball program over the past 12 years, and famously achieved 816 wins during his 45-year coaching career. Best known for his “family style” coaching style, Massimino is considered one of the greatest college coaches of all time.

“At Keiser, we are committed to putting students first and we know that Coach Massimino would be pleased with the generous funds raised to support our academic endeavors,” Dr. Keiser said. “With your contributions, we can continue to educate, inspire, and change the lives of our students.”

Campus leaders said Coach Massimino would often spend his free time supporting the Flagship Campus’ growing sports programs. Massimino’s wife, Mary Jane, and daughter, Lee Ann, attended the memorial golf event in his honor.

Professional Golfer and CBS Sports Commentator Bobby Clampett, the keynote representative of the Keiser University College of Golf advisory board, signed autographs and copies of his new book “The Impact Zone” which were provided to tournament participants. A number of sports celebrities also attended, including Kipp Vickers, Bill Riehl, Dr. Herve’ Damas, Eric Robbinson, Eddie Hill, Quadinrine Hill, Reggie Givens and Mark Smith – all of the Retired NFL Players Association; past Major League Baseball players Scott Proctor and Brook Fordyce, who is also Keiser University’s Head Baseball Head Coach; and PGA golfer Ty Tyron.
