Keiser University Graduate and Star Volleyball Player Unveils Techy Tool for Fellow Players

Keiser University graduating senior and star volleyball player Hannah Heide recently unveiled a techy tool designed to streamline the sport – a volleyball antenna that lights up when the ball touches, so that officials and fellow players do not have to rely on line judges to make out of bound and antenna calls.

“Sometimes during gameplay calls are missed by officials because there is so much going on at once. This tool will allow them to analyze other game areas more closely,” said Heide whose Volleyball Antennae Alert System will provide clarity relating to the game’s legal hits over the net, and illegal “dinks.”

Held as part of Keiser University’s system-wide Research and Creative Inquiry Week and Annual Symposium under the direction of Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Jennifer Peluso, learners enjoyed sharing their findings. The Flagship Campus event included a variety of prototypes, posters, and multimedia projects in the fields of Applied Engineering, Business Analytics, Chiropractic Medicine, Exercise and Sport Science, Psychology, Political Science, Sport Management Operations, and more.

Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Engineering prepares students for entering the workforce as skilled and highly trained technicians and problem solvers with an understanding of advanced engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals engaged in developing, installing, calibrating, modifying and maintaining electrical, mechanical, aerospace, agricultural, transportation, and biomedical systems. This includes instruction in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA); computer systems; electronics and instrumentation; programmable logic controllers (PLCs); electric, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems; actuator and sensor systems; process control; robotics; applications to specific industrial tasks; and report preparation.
