Keiser University Nursing Students Prepare to Enter the Workforce, Enjoy Hiring Event
Nursing program students at Keiser University’s West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie campuses recently enjoyed the opportunity to participate in mock interview sessions and to meet with hiring professionals.
Over 150 Associate and Bachelor of Science in Nursing students from Keiser University’s Port St. Lucie campus attended an informational session and hiring event hosted by Cleveland Clinic. Led by Linda Fitzpatrick, Keiser University’s Port St. Lucie campus Director of Strategic Alliance, the group was able to gain insights relating to opportunities within the organization’s global workforce.
Keiser University West Palm Beach campus learners also honed their interview skills as they prepared resumes and cover letters prior to participating in panel-style practice interview sessions with professionals from JFK Medical Center, Wellington Regional Hospital, and Fresenius Kidney Care under the direction of Keiser University faculty member Dr. Sandra McIndoe. The lesson concluded with detailed feedback followed by the finishing touch to the interaction as future graduates sent handwritten thank you letters to potential employers.
“The mock interview provides practice for the students before having a real job interview and creates an opportunity for them to get feedback about interviewing skills, learn how to answer specific interview questions, and get comfortable with those answers. In addition, it helps students develop appropriate strategies for the live interviews by refining communication skills and reducing their stress levels,” said McIndoe.
The Associate of Science in Nursing degree program at Keiser University’s College of Nursing provides a pathway for students who want to become registered nurses. In the challenging and rewarding career, students will assess, plan, and provide direct patient care and be contributing members of health care teams. The traditional Keiser University Bachelor of Science in Nursing program prepares graduates to provide compassionate, patient-centered, culturally competent nursing care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations in a variety of settings, using evidence-based knowledge and skills related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management, and end-of-life care to improve healthcare outcomes.
