Keiser University’s Melbourne Campus OTA Program is Recognized by Easterseals of Florida

Keiser University Melbourne Campus Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program professors and students were recently recognized by Easterseals of  Florida.  Presented at the Easterseals’ 100th Anniversary Celebration, the award acknowledged how program members have enhanced the minds and lives of Easterseals clients due to their 14-year partnership and support of the organization’s Life Skills Training and Employment Facility. It was accepted by OTA Program Director Kris Bishop.

Also in attendance to celebrate the honor were Campus President Colleen Browne, OTA Fieldwork Coordinator Kerri Hanger, faculty members Crystal Young, Georgia Robbins, and Mica Allen, and several students. The event was complete with community partners, family, and friends of Easterseals.

The Palm Bay Easterseals facility has served as an important community-based fieldwork location for KU Melbourne Campus OTA students. Keiser University has provided donations of medical equipment, televisions, chairs, and other needed supplies to the organization, and also hosts a variety of events and fundraisers throughout the year to assist with promotion and funding. Keiser University greatly values the long-lasting symbiotic relationship it maintains with Easterseals and is honored to be its community partner.

2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of Easterseals. For 100 years, the organization has served as an indispensable resource for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and their families.
