Keiser University’s New Port Richey Campus Opens New Parking Garage
It’s the talk of the town: Keiser University’s New Port Richey (NPR) campus has officially opened their new 350-space, three-level parking garage six months after the groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 18th, 2021.
The parking garage was created in partnership with the city of NPR, after Keiser University donated the land for the project. It will serve as not only a commodity for Keiser students and staff, but also a practical solution to the crowds that visit NPR daily.
There will be free parking in the garage for all visitors, along with disability parking, space elevators on all levels, and eight charging stations for electric vehicles. The city of NPR has also purchased a golf cart to shuttle guests from the garage into downtown.
“With the addition of the 350-space parking garage there will be more flexibility for downtown use and ease of accessibility to the students to both the downtown area and the University,” said Keiser University NPR President Charles Gibbons “We are excited to be in partnership with the City of New Port Richey. There are certainly great things to come!”
This $6.5 million project, designed and planned by Fisher Architects of Clearwater, is the largest investment along the U.S. 19 corridor in more than 20 years. The structure was created quickly thanks to prefabricated construction, or prefab, which meant that pieces of the garage were built off-site and the delivered to NPR via highway.
Located on the corner of U.S. 19 and Main Street, both Keiser University students/staff and members of the community are looking forward to the benefits this new garage will bring to the community.
