KU-Fort Myers OTA Students Learn to be Best Buddies to Help People with Disabilities
Everyone needs a best buddy, right? At the Fort Myers campus, students of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program are learning how to do that for the Best Buddies International Association, a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities (IDD) enhance their quality of life by building one-to-one friendships.
OTA student, Madisyn Berry, and OTA Professor, Jessica Plescia, attended a Back To Best Buddies Training. The purpose of the workshop is help Best Buddies Southwest Florida chapter leadership to engage the community to take part in the inaugural Friendship Walk in April and Best Buddies month in March.
