Nursing Research Symposium Provides KU Fort Lauderdale Students Opportunity to Validate, Refine Data

Keiser University’s Fort Lauderdale campus recently presented a Nursing Research Symposium which provided students the opportunity to collectively interact while unveiling findings on a variety of topics including:

  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver and whether it plays a role in increasing the risk of Type-2 Diabetes
  • The risk factors for physical and psychological pathologies among obese children, teens and young adults ages 1 – 20
  • Foods with genetically modified organisms and their affect on pregnant women ages 15 – 45
  • Self-management of diabetes and how it may be impacted by socio-economic status
  • The Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine and its possible link to autism disorders in children
  • The benefits and risks of robotic surgery vs. open radical prostatectomy surgery among obese male patients age 50 – 80

Led by Nursing Instructor Dr. Annie Clavon, the affair began with opening remarks by Academic Dean Janette Porta-Avalos who commended the students and highlighted the need for additional research. To learn more about Keiser University’s Nursing program, please visit: https://www.keiseruniversity.edu/nursing-bsn-traditional/
