Keiser University Flagship Campus Vice President John McMurry, Executive Director of Golf Operations Dr. Eric Wilson, Admissions Officer Liz Snyder, and College of Golf Professor Donna White recently participated in the South Florida PGA Help Our Patriots Everywhere (HOPE) Charity Golf Classic held at the Loxahatchee Golf Club.

Launched in South Florida in 2015, PGA HOPE was designed to provide local military veterans with an opportunity to learn the game of golf from PGA Professionals as a form of rehabilitation and an outlet for activity and competition. The lifetime sport of golf has proven to be a great benefit by allowing military veterans to assimilate back into their community through the social interaction the game provides. The annual event included over 65 golfers and raised a record-setting amount of more than $55,000.00 to support and administer 12 programs in 2019, impacting more than 200 veterans.

White, who is also an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Hall of Fame member and a founding member of the PGA HOPE program, thanked the golfers for their support of the critical effort as Rob Torrington, PGA HOPE Classic Committee Chair agreed. “This is an incredible event that allows us the opportunity to help out veterans,” he said. “Many veterans suffer from PTSD and other illnesses related to trauma that makes it hard for them to come out of their homes. PGA HOPE uses golf as a way of therapy to help reengage them in the community.”

Keiser University salutes veterans and looks forward to providing continued support to PGA HOPE.
