Keiser University Blue Line 5K to Celebrate Law Enforcement, Public Safety

The event will be held Saturday, June 1st at the University’s West Palm Beach Campus.

 

West Palm Beach, Florida – May 2019 Keiser University is pleased to host the 4th Annual Keiser University Blue Line 5K. The event will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019, beginning at 7 am at Keiser University’s West Palm Beach campus located at 2085 Vista Parkway, West Palm Beach, Florida 33411. Those interested in participating should register here.

Keiser University students, faculty, staff and community partners will join nearly 100 law enforcement officers from throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties to celebrate the men and women of law enforcement and public safety while supporting events that recognize the finest of law enforcement and public safety in our community.

Members from the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk Series will participate in the occasion to further honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.  Also participating in the race will be Zechariah Cartledge, a 10yearold boy who has been running in honor of fallen law enforcement officers. The dedicated youth from Winter Springs, Florida will be presented an award from the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Awards Committee at the event. Zechariah will run in honor of the following fallen officers:

  • Mile 1: Sergeant Daniel Scott Baker, Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, TN, EOW: 5/30/18, Cause: Gunfire
  • Mile 2: Detective Larry Marrero, Miami Beach Police Department, FL, EOW: 11/28/18, Cause: Heart Attack
  • Mile 3: Officer Jermaine Brown, Miami-Dade Police Department, FL, EOW: 12/12/18, Cause: Accidental
