Chancellor’s blog: Our statewide ceremony recognizes the last 2018 graduates.

Statewide graduation - 5

In 2018, more than 3000 of our students completed their degrees at one of our 21 campuses across Florida. For those unable to attend the commencement ceremony on their local KU campus during the calendar year, we held a special Statewide Graduation Ceremony on January 19th at the Omni Orlando Resort in Championsgate.

About 300 students traveled from their hometowns to just outside Orlando to take part the Saturday morning ceremony. More than 1500 friends and family members also attended the event to support of their graduates, and they were joined by nearly 200 our faculty and staff from across the state. Speaking on behalf of the Keiser Community, we are all incredibly proud to be honoring these graduates who have worked hard to achieve their academic goals. Their dedication is admirable, and we are pleased to have played a role in preparing them for successful careers and service to their communities.

We were also delighted to have six-term U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-Florida, 16th District), presented the keynote address to our graduates and their families. He stressed the importance of being a self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude. He reminded students that nothing is given away and urged the graduates to work hard every day to achieve their goals. We also were pleased to recognize his tremendous contributions to the community, his leadership in Congress, and his support of Keiser University, by awarding him an honorary Doctor of Law degree, honoris causa.
With last year’s additional 3,000 graduates, Keiser University has now awarded about 68,000 diplomas and degrees since we started with one student back in 1977.  Congratulations 2018 grads!
