Gait Analysis Lab Provides Insight to KU Melbourne Campus PTA Students

Physical therapist Assistant students at Keiser University’s Melbourne campus recently attended a gait analysis lab with the goal of determining the causes and possible treatment options to correct abnormal gait patterns.

The exercises examined the strides, steps and cadence of each classmate’s walking gait patterns. It also included gait analysis which are used to identify osteokinematic changes that occur while running. As part of the lesson, students were recorded and then examined in slow motion using HUDL Technique software.

After the lab was completed students enjoyed a discussion relating to the outcomes of the exercises as they relate to causes and treatments.
