Keiser University Alumnus Named Department Head at Savannah Technical College

Savannah Technical College has selected Keiser University alumnus Alima Mims as its department head for Fire Science. In his new role, Mims will coordinate academic programs, advise students, supervise faculty, and perform various departmental and college-wide assignments.

Mims earned his associate degree in fire science from Keiser University in 2010 and is currently earning a bachelor’s degree in public safety administration from Keiser.

Prior to joining Savannah Tech, Mims spent nearly two decades in fire service with extensive experience extinguishing fires. He earned the rank of Lieutenant in Training with the Augusta, Georgia, Fire Department. Mims has worked in firefighter education since 2009 and developed programs within the Georgia Fire Academy.
