Keiser University Chiropractic Team Studies the Effects of Flexion Distraction Technology

Under the leadership of Dr. James Cox, the originator of the commonly used research-driven chiropractic manipulation known as Cox Flexion Distraction, Keiser University College of Chiropractic Medicine students, instructors, researchers and sonographers recently studied the effects of the manipulation procedure using diagnostic ultrasound technology.

Led locally by Dr. Ralph Kruse, attending chiropractic physician at the Keiser University Spine Care Clinic, the research provided the team the opportunity to conduct a preliminary study while measuring results of spine motion at multiple levels. With the goal of providing and documenting evidence for the clinical results found in chiropractic practice, the research will serve as a foundation for larger Institutional Review Board approved studies aimed at documenting physiological spine changes.

Now celebrating its second Anniversary, the Spine Care Clinic at Keiser University’s College of Chiropractic Medicine provides a variety of treatments including chiropractic spinal manipulation, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Class II Laser Therapy, physiotherapy modalities, and therapeutic exercises, and more. All care is administered by senior students under the direct supervision of attending faculty clinicians. The Doctor of Chiropractic program at Keiser University is a rigorous professional program consisting of ten semesters of study which are completed over 40 months.  It combines traditional lectures with small group learning, weekly conferences and seminars, laboratory and experiential sessions, and clinical training opportunities at a number of sites.  All coursework includes case-based relevancy for chiropractic practice as a portal-of-entry profession dedicated to excellence in spine care.
