Keiser University Military Affairs Leader to Serve as NAVPA Legislative Director and Delegate
Dr. Jan Del Signore, Keiser University’s Associate Vice Chancellor of Military Affairs was recently appointed Legislative Director and Region IV Delegate of the National Association of Veterans’ Program Administrators (NAVPA).
As part of her new role, Dr. Del Signore will work closely with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Education, and the Department of Defense to promote the improvement and development of educational opportunities for active-duty personnel, Veterans, and their dependents as part of the role. She will also collaborate with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and other national and regional professional organizations concerning NAVPA’s mission.
“To me, it’s important to give back to my fellow Veterans and help them successfully transition back to civilian life. Oftentimes it can be difficult to navigate their educational path using GI Bill® benefits,” said Del Signore who has served as a NAVPA board member and on various committees since first elected in 2012. “These are the benefits our Veterans have earned while serving this great country,” added Del Signore who is based at Keiser University’s Tallahassee Campus.
Inspired to enter the armed forces by her grandfather who served in the US Navy in WWI, a close uncle who served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and family visits to the New England Air Museum located in her home state of Connecticut, Del Signore joined the United States Air Force after high school. A lifelong learner, she dedicated over 20 years of service while also earning associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) in Aircraft Armament Systems and Technology and Military Science Instruction, a Bachelor of Business degree in Business from Mount Olive College, and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree from the University of La Verne while also serving as a military instructor and Detachment Flight Chief for the Community College of the Air Force.
While nearing military retirement, she began collaborating with Skip Keating, a retired Army Colonel who served as Keiser University’s Tallahassee Campus Dean of Academic Affairs and was offered the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs based on her work and leadership with CCAF in 2000 while still on terminal leave. After military retirement, she went on to earn her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2013 as part of her GI Bill®.
Dr. Del Signore was pleased to speak at the 2025 Student Veterans of America (SVA) National Conference on student Veteran issues and the GI Bill®. Those Keiser University Student Veterans who are interested in learning more about scholarships and leadership opportunities should contact leaders of their campus’ SVA Chapter or their Student Services department.
Founded in 1975, NAVPA is a recognized organization of program administrators who work for universities and colleges, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs across the nation to ensure student Veterans are provided the best service and most accurate access to their GI Bill ® benefits. Although the primary mission of NAVPA is education, it also addresses other areas of interest and opportunity for Veterans, as well as professional development.
