Keiser University Radiologic Technology Graduates Join Respected Health Conglomerate

Four Keiser University Port St. Lucie graduates recently joined area Cleveland Clinic locations thanks to the university and peer support combined with their own commitment to academic success.

“The professors did a great job preparing me. During my first clinical rotation, I was able to apply the knowledge I’d gained and to stand out successfully among other candidates. I know this is thanks in part to the education I received at Keiser University, as it resulted in me getting hired by my first clinical rotation site,” said Luz Figuera who is now employed at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

Now featured on the campus’ Graduate Wall of Success, the Radiologic Technology graduates are thankful for the opportunities they’d received to interact with local employers and the availability of interview preparation which included participation in mock interviews, resume reviews, and more. “We’re thankful to enjoy a strong relationship with Cleveland Clinic as a community and externship partner, and regularly welcome their staff members as advisory board members, recruiters and classroom presenters,” said Director of Student Services Leslie Haviland.

“I was fortunate to be a member of a great class with peers who are now lifelong friends, and teachers who are dedicated and determined to help us succeed. The experience is something I will never forget,” said Hana DeRita who is now employed at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.

In addition to developing a schedule that supports time for academic review and analysis, current and future Keiser University are advised to stay the course. “Reach and never stop reaching. No goal is impossible, as you have to keep focused and continually remind yourself why you’re doing it. Stay patient and resilient and don’t ever settle,” said DeRita.

Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology prepares students for entry-level positions in the profession, producing radiographic images in accordance with standardized practices and procedures.  The program provides radiologic information including medical terminology, patient care, radiographic procedures, radiation protection, equipment operations, and image production and evaluation. The program’s graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and are eligible to be licensed by the State of Florida to practice Radiologic Technology.
