KU College of Chiropractic Medicine Professor Researches Female Fitness Habits

Keiser University College of Chiropractic Medicine Assistant Professor Jennifer Illes is also applying her knowledge toward enhancing female fitness.

A West Palm Beach resident, the mother of two first became interested in the field at a young age thanks to parents with a holistic mindset. She is drawn to Keiser University’s College of Chiropractic Medicine for its small class sizes which she finds optimal for hands-on training, and describes as ‘the integral part of chiropractic medicine.’

Motivated by her own dramatic weight loss and desire to help other working moms, she is currently authoring a book highlighting how female fitness patterns have developed throughout the decades and is one of the few female sports chiropractors who has worked with the national football and baseball leagues.

“After losing over 100 lbs after my two pregnancies and juggling a busy professional life along with caring for two infants, many of my friends were asking for tips about health and lifestyle changes. I decided to start writing a book to focus on how women can multitask successfully while keeping both the emotional and physical worlds balanced,” said Illes.

Illes, who is one of the few female sports chiropractors who has worked with the national football and baseball leagues now resides in West Palm Beach. She attended Brock University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She then attended New York Chiropractic College, earning her (insert correct terminology for doctorate degree) where she was class Salutatorian, a member of Phi Chi Omega Honor Society for Excellence in Academic Standing, and the recipient of the clinical award of excellence.

Also a graduate of McMaster University’s medical acupuncture course. Illes holds a past certification as a Kinesiotaping instructor, is a myofascial directional therapy (MFCT) practitioner and is certified in all levels of Active Release Techniques. She’s worked as a chiropractor with a professional sports team as well as a clinician, a professor, and an associate dean. Having treated performance athletes and chronic pain sufferers, she also lectures globally about chiropractic techniques.

The Doctor of Chiropractic program at Keiser University is a rigorous professional program consisting of ten semesters of study which are completed over 40 months. It combines traditional lectures with small group learning, weekly conferences and seminars, laboratory and experiential sessions, and clinical training opportunities at a number of sites.  All coursework includes case-based relevancy for chiropractic practice as a portal-of-entry profession dedicated to excellence in spine care.
