KU College of Golf Students Enjoy Handicap Seminar

Keiser University College of Golf (KUDOG) students recently enjoyed a seminar presented by Aaron Skoviera, Director of the Florida State Golf Association’s Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN).

The session, which also included Ladies Professional Golf Association Teaching and Club Professionals, focused on the new World Handicap System which is being introduced worldwide in 2020. Key objectives include the development of a modern system that enables as many golfers as possible to get and maintain a Handicap Index while providing a consistent measure of playing ability and the establishment of a globalized calculation method.

Moving forward, all United States Golf Association (USGA) authorized clubs must have at least one staff member who has attended the designated seminar. The role of the Handicap Committee in fair and equitable competition continues to remain critical, and club players will depend upon the committee to:

  • Know the World Handicap System (WHS)
  • Communicate the System to all players
  • Faithfully apply the System at their clubs

The event provided detailed information about system changes and the impact they will have on players and golf professionals. Attendees gained valuable knowledge that will assist them in their careers while serving on golf club handicap committees.
