Orlando Area Business Leaders Try to Solve KU’s Forensic Investigation “Whodunit?

East Chamber of Commerce Coffee Club Tries to Solve Crime Scene Set-Up

Two Forensic Investigations faculty members from the Keiser University Orlando Campus recently presented to the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce Coffee Club at Bonefish Grill in Orlando. Christina Martinez and Monica Marion set-up a crime scene for a “whodunit?” activity at the restaurant bar as if a robbery had gone wrong. The scenario was the suspect broke in through the window, robbed, and then shot the victim as she tried to escape over the bar. It appeared that the suspect took off in rush, as evident by the cash that was left behind at the crime scene.

Those attending the presentation helped determine if the red substance at the scene was blood. They also learned how to check for fingerprints and view the blood under a microscope. Martinez conducted a PowerPoint presentation about how a crime scenes are processed, evidence is collected and sent to the lab for further processing. Marion presented information about common mistakes that businesses might make which could prevent law enforcement from collecting evidence at crime scenes.
