Two Tie for Top Honors at Fort Myers Commencement

Doubly smart might be how you describe the top grads from this year’s class at Keiser University’s Fort Myers campus. Two valedictorians, both earning perfect 4.0 grade point averages, will deliver speeches at the spring commencement on Friday, June 1. They will present their addresses before the largest graduating class ever at the Fort Myers campus, with more than 100 students crossing the stage to accept their degrees.

“Our staff and faculty are extraordinarily proud of the accomplishments of the graduates who will participate in this commencement ceremony. Our graduates are celebrating a great personal and professional triumph that is the direct result of their hard work, dedication, and persistence,” Campus President Nancy Tedros said.

The co-valedictorians class are Jesus Herrera-Dominguez, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Management degree, and Karla Zavala who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Finance degree.

“We are proud to honor both Jesus and Karla as Valedictorians of our 2018 class.  They both have exemplified determination, optimism, and fearlessness while being active students on our campus as well as professionals in our community. Jesus is a Manager at Sherwin Williams in Fort Myers.  Karla is an Office Manager at State Farm Insurance in Labelle.” Annie Gannucci, Student Services Director said.

The commencement speaker will be Florida Representative, Dane Eagle, who was born and raised in Cape Coral, and has served his home area in the 77th District since 2012.  Representative Eagle, who at the age of 24 became the youngest person ever to serve as deputy chief of staff to a Florida Governor, will share words of inspiration with the graduating class. The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at Lee Civic Center in Fort Myers, FL.
