First Responders Thank Keiser University Student Nurses for Ongoing Support

Sulfur Springs, Florida firefighters recently enjoyed a warm meal courtesy of Keiser University Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Student Nurse Association (SNA) members.

Led by Master of Science in Nursing Professor Lisa Valeriay, the occasion was part of the SNA’s monthly community outreach program. “As nursing students, it’s important to connect with the community, and these volunteer activities help remind us of what it means to be a caring educational partner,” said Valeriay.

In addition to providing food on special occasions after ‘adopting’ the fire department two years ago, the group regularly visits nursing homes, assists at food shelters, volunteers at first aid stations, and more.

Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Nursing program prepares students to practice professional nursing. Professional nursing involves the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skill based upon applied principles of biological, physical, psychological, and social sciences.
