Jacksonville OTA Students Raise Awareness for Ergonomics and Oncology

KU Jacksonville campus Occupational Therapy Assistant program students recently created displays to raise awareness for the areas of ergonomics and oncology.

The ergonomics group presented the importance of good posture when working at a computer and lifting backpacks to help prevent issues like back and neck pain. The oncology rehabilitation group focused on the many ways that professionals can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. Examples included edema management, cognitive rehabilitation, coping strategies and stress management. They also created bookmarks which could be used to write personalized messages of encouragement.
