Keiser University Chiropractic Medicine Graduates Unveil Whole-Body Wellness Practice
Keiser University College of Chiropractic Medicine (KUCCM) graduates Dr. Karen Gordon and Dr. Hilda Paola-Franco recently teamed to unveil Lux Wellness Chiropractic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The two credit their collaborative interactions for the venture along with KUCCM faculty members, their evidence-based training, and the opportunity it afforded to shadow field doctors early in the program.
‘One could say that we have synergy,” smiled Gordon of the joint venture which first introduced itself while the two teamed on a class project focused on the management of successful chiropractic practices. “It’s like we are connected and almost an extension of each other, so we always thought we would work together,” added Gordon, a Jamaican native who worked in the dentistry field for over ten years before recognizing how prevalently poor ergonomics and physical and emotional stress affect the body. “I have had several family members, friends and coworkers who were treated by a chiropractor and had relief from pain after treatments, so when the opportunity to pursue the degree presented itself, I took it,” added Gordon, who completed her externship at the Keiser University Spine Care Clinic and also at the university’s Flagship Campus where she joined athletic trainers to treat student-athletes.
After suffering from a knee and back injury while playing soccer when she was 15-years-old, the dramatic effects of chiropractic care made a lasting impression on Paola-Franco. When asked what she’d recommend to future physicians in the field, the Miami native and the first female KUCCM graduate to attend her externship clinical rotation at the Miami VA Hospital reflected, “Anyone who gets into this profession must have empathy and a sincere passion to help people.”
Lux Wellness Chiropractic offers a variety of treatments including acupuncture, spinal traction techniques, massage therapy, therapeutic taping techniques, and more.
