Keiser University Fort Myers Takes Part Child Abuse Prevention Month

Students and staff from Keiser University Fort Myers recently took part in took part in a movement to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month which occurs each April.

Members of the KU Fort Myers community took part in the MANicure Movement, a grassroots campaign designed to raise awareness of child abuse as a National Health Crisis. In partnership with Children’s Network of Southwest Florida, the Fort Myers Campus had students, staff and faculty volunteer to have one fingernail painted blue. The concept behind the nail painting is one fingernail painted blue starts one conversation that moves us one step closer to ending the tragic reality that one in five children will suffer abuse before the age of 18.

Child Abuse Prevention Month, which began in Central Florida, is an annual observance in the United States dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. April has been designated Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States since 1983.
