Keiser University student Johnathon Musgrave is thankful for his role as the University’s West Palm Beach campus Student Veterans of America (SVA) president, as it’s helped him to assist fellow servicemen and women.

Along with other area animal lovers Ryan and Amanda Onda and David and Debbie Kalmus, Musgrave, a US Navy veteran helps lead Semper Fi Service Dogs to save the lives of shelter dogs while providing veterans with valuable assistance animals. Dubbed to represent the Latin phrase ‘always faithful’ with the motto of ‘No Vet Left Behind,’ the organization is designed to ‘join the hearts of canines to their humans in an unbreakable bond.’ Semper Fi Service Dogs are trained to notice crucial cues such as anxiety, panic attacks, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Now serving as the Veteran’s Liaison at Semper Fi Service Dogs, Musgrave believes his participation as the Keiser University SVA President has provided a strong foundation for his important role as it allowed him to learn more about fellow veterans and the situations they go through.  “I am the first point of contact who applying veterans will meet and talk to. It’s important for them to feel comfortable speaking to someone who understands what they are going through and what they need to help them,” he said.

In addition to being grateful for the support provided by former Keiser University professor Brian Bizzarro, Musgrave is appreciative of Professor Maria Golonski’s mentorship throughout his participation in the university’s Forensic Investigations program. “She taught me important procedures and processing methods as well as how to write reports for crime scenes. These are all vital in the world of forensics and have also aided me in developing and organizing paperwork as veterans adopt our  Semper Fi Service Dogs. Professor Golonski never gave up on my abilities and always made time to meet. I am forever grateful to her,” he said.

Semper-Fi Service Dogs is registered as a Florida Veteran Non-Profit and is awaiting the final approval for our 501(c)3 Non-Profit recognition.

Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Investigations (Investigations Concentration) prepares students with competencies in the collection, preservation, and analysis of physical evidence for presentation in legal proceedings. The program provides students with the skills required to recognize relevant scientific information discoverable through forensic analysis of various types of physical evidence. Oral and written communications regarding the results of investigations and forensic analysis are also emphasized.
