Keiser University’s Flagship Campus Commencement Ceremony

Keiser University’s Flagship campus will celebrate spring commencement on Wed., May 2 at 11 a.m. at the University’s Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center. More than 500 guests are expected to attend the event, as they cheer on the Class of 2018 graduates who hail from 14 countries.

 

“We impart warm thoughts upon our graduates as they embark on rewarding careers which will allow them to further serve the communities in which they live and work,” said Dr. Gary Vonk, Keiser University’s Flagship Campus president. “We also look forward to welcoming them back as alumni mentors who will serve as shining examples to future Seahawk students.”

 

Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera will deliver the Keynote Address and will be followed by remarks from Florida Sen. Lori Berman.Lopez-Canter has served as lieutenant governor since Feb. 3, 2014. He was previously a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2004 through 2012, and served on the Governor’s Property Tax Reform Committee, the My Safe Florida Home Advisory Council and the Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Mortgage Fraud Task Force over the course of his 8-year term. In August 2012, he as elected as property appraiser of Miami-Dade County, then was appointed to his current position in January of 2014.

 

Berman became the newest member of the Florida Senate in an April 2018 special election for Senate District 31, representing parts of central Palm Beach County. She previously served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives beginning 2010.
Serving as commencement ceremony valedictorian and salutatorian are Ahmet Brown from Hallandale Beach, Florida who will earn his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, and Erik Jonasson from Danderyd, Sweden, who will earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business.
