KU Port St. Lucie Campus President is Honored as Board Member of the Year

Keiser University Port St. Lucie Campus president Leslie Kristof was recently honored as the ‘Jewels of the Treasure Coast Non-Profit Board Member of the Year’ at the  211 Helpline’s Non-Profit Awards ceremony. Nominated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County, Kristof has served diligently for the past three years and is the organization’s new incoming President.

For over 24 years, the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County has been at the forefront of youth development while working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. With 20 locations throughout the county, it serves more than 8,000 youth annually with afterschool, summer and outreach programming. The clubs offer daily access to a broad range of programs that promote health, social, educational, vocational, character, and leadership development while fostering a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence that builds self-confidence and self-esteem. The scope and depth of programming addresses the community’s need for positive programs for at-risk youth.

Other categories highlighted in the awards ceremony included Non-Profit Volunteer of the Year, Non-Profit Leader of the Year, Non-Profit Fundraiser of the Year, Unsung Hero of the Year and Rising Star of the Year. As a non-profit agency, 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast is into its fifth decade of providing a team of specially trained staff to assist callers through its  211 Help Line with crisis intervention, suicide prevention, information, assessment and referral to community services, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Additionally, the organization collects and maintains information on community health and human services and makes this information available via its hotlines, helplines, printed directories, and on the web.
