Local Children Benefit from Keiser University’s Jacksonville Campus Book Drive
Members of Keiser University’s Jacksonville campus recently collected approximately 170 books for children involved with the Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Duval County.
Founded by the campus’ Library Director Lynn Mayfield the annual event was developed as a way to get involved with the community while promoting literacy. “Research proves that children gain a head start toward success when they begin to read early in life, so we are grateful for the ELC of Duval and all they do. Many thanks as well to our Librarian Irene Kenner for creating and overseeing this year’s ‘Be a Superhero and Donate a Book’ marketing campaign and collection effort,” she smiled.
The hardcovers and paperbacks will be distributed to Duval County families as part of the organization’s holiday clothing and gift bag distribution.
With the mission of leading and supporting the early learning community in building the best foundation for children aged birth to five, the ELC of Duval is Jacksonville’s first stop for early learning through collaborative leadership. It works with the vision of ensuring that all children receive high-quality care and learning opportunities to prepare for academic and lifelong success and that all families have the support they need for children to succeed.
