Students Volunteer with Keiser University Academic Leader Who Serves as Flag Football “Team Mom”

When not leading Keiser University’s math program or in the classroom teaching various levels of Statistic classes, Keiser University Flagship Campus Mathematics Department Program Coordinator and Professor Jamie Teman enjoys serving as “Team Mom” to her daughter Peyton’s Breakthru Athletic League flag football team.

Assisted by Keiser University Flag Football Players Sophia Caprio, Chloe Griffin, and Haylie Young whom each competed in the sport at Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee, Florida, Teman finds the game provides a lot of enjoyment along with valuable lessons. “This sport is big out in The Acreage and has been going on for 15-plus years. It is great to see the girls start around the age of 5 and play through the end of high school. Now I get to see them play while in college at Keiser,” smiled Teman, of the popular hometown pastime.

The Keiser University student-athlete volunteers are also thankful for the chance to support up-and-coming competitors from their hometowns. “I love coaching flag football because I have a love for the sport, and I want to share it with the younger generation. Volunteering has always been something I enjoy doing. I love seeing others happy and know that I have contributed to their happiness,” said Caprio.

Included as part of NFL Flag, the official flag football league of the NFL and the largest youth flag football organization in the United States, Breakthru Athletic League is a non-profit organization focused on growing the sport of Girl’s Flag Football by helping participants develop a love for the game and becoming the best athletes imaginable. Supporters of each ten-week season include coaches, players, parents and fans.
