Tallahassee Students Enjoy Volunteering at ‘Sportsability’ Day

Members of the Keiser University Tallahassee campus Student Occupational Therapy Assistant (SOTA) program recently enjoyed volunteering at the annual Florida Disabled Outdoor Association’s ‘Sportsability’ Day.

Keiser University students were pleased to learn more about several adaptive sporting equipment technologies that they will be able to recommend for future patients at the event, which was held at the Alfred B. Maclay State Park. Guests enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities for those with disabilities including all types of water sports, horseback riding, and adaptive golf.

Occupational Therapists work with people with all types of disabilities to reach their full potential physically and psychologically. Whether assisting a patient with dressing, feeding oneself, or participating in an outdoor sport, members of the 16-month Occupational Therapy Assistant program strive to empower people with disabilities to become as independent as possible and to live fulfilled lives.
