Tampa BioMed Club Turns Sweet Treats into Donation to Help Children with Life-threatening Illnesses
Satisfying a sweet tooth is a great way to earn money for a good cause and get a little attention for your new club. KU-Tampa’s BioMed Club hosted a bake sale to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Students, faculty, and staff got to choose from home baked goods such as chocolate chip cookies, red velvet cake, and blueberry scones. Club members also passed out flyers to let their “customers” know their donations will to help St. Jude’s treat and defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Tampa’s BioMed Club is the first one created among the Keiser campuses. KU’s Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for entry into health sciences and analytical/research laboratories. Students learn to perform skills in a variety of science related positions in health departments, zoos, clinical and environmental chemistry, pharmaceutics, and laboratories.
