Keiser University College of Golf Students Enjoy High-Tech Capabilities
Keiser University College of Golf (KUCOG) Master of Science in Sport Management and Operations (MSSMO) program students recently enjoyed the high-tech capabilities of the program’s simulation equipment. In addition to testing their swings on a virtual golf course, the occasion offered the group chances to shoot virtual hoops and hockey pucks and dodge computer-generated zombies.
Among the assembly was recent KUCOG graduate Nathan Mortland who’d enjoyed employing his newfound insights to produce a successful Technology and Social Media in Sport class “Hard to Say, Easy to Play” marketing plan. His experience, combined with knowledge gained from his Sponsorship and Fundraising in Sports course assignments helped to secure a variety of opportunities.
“This is this kind of experiential learning that differentiates the educational opportunities offered by Keiser University from other institutions. We intentionally build into our curriculum multiple opportunities for real-world, hands-on experiences that are relevant to our students’ aspirations. These experiences give students a 360-degree perspective as they explore career pathways and allow students to practice and reflect upon the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical tools they develop in the classroom,” said Dr. Jenny Peluso, Dean of Academic Affairs.
Keiser University’s MSSMO program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for a professional career in the sports industry. The program prepares students for a variety of positions in the business of sports. The program imbues students with critical thinking skills, business acumen, and communication abilities to lead a multitude of sports endeavors – from little league to scholastic sports to higher education sports to professional sports. Ethical foundations and professional standards are established and reinforced. The program encourages creativity and independent learning while fostering a climate of classroom collaboration.
The mission of the KUCOG is to educate the future leaders of the golf industry by providing a well-rounded education. With faculty comprised of PGA Master and Certified Professionals, students have the opportunity to earn Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in Golf Management.
