Keiser University Golfer to Represent Home Country in International Tournament

Keiser University Flagship campus student and Seahawk Golfer Michela Tjan will compete as part of the Indonesian National Team in the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship. The tournament will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on November 10-13, 2021.

A Jakarta, Indonesia native, Tjan is the second player in Keiser University Seahawk golf program history to earn NAIA Player of the Year honors and the winner of the 2019 NAIA National Championship.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for Michela to have the privilege to represent her country and compete in one of the best amateur golf tournaments in the world,” said Coach Brandon Miler. “She’s a role model student-athlete who has excelled not only in golf but in the classroom as well. We’re really proud of Michela and thrilled that she’ll be playing in Abu Dhabi,” said Miller of Tjan, an Interdisciplinary Studies junior who is focusing on Entrepreneurship and Marketing.

The competition was developed by the R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation to unearth emerging talent and provide a pathway for Asia’s elite female amateurs to the international stage. The winner will receive an invitation to the 2022 AIG Women’s British Open at Muirfield – Scotland (4-7 August 2022) and 2022 The Amundi Evian Championship at the Evian Resort Golf Club, France (25-28 July 2022), both Major Championships in women’s golf.
