Keiser University Tallahassee Featured On WTXL News
WTXL Tallahassee recently highlighted Dean of Academic Affairs Shyam Mistry from Keiser University Tallahassee for a healthcare fair hosted on March 27th. The fair brought together dozens of healthcare agencies from across the city at the Walker-Ford Community Center.
Students interested in entering the healthcare field were encouraged to show up on Saturday afternoon with a resume in hand to speak with representatives from agencies in the area, such as Neighborhood Medical Center, Florida HSC, Care Point Health & Wellness Center, and many more.
Shyam Mistry spoke to reporters from WTXL to discuss some of the factors that prompted this year’s fair, including burnout and labor shortages.
“We brought together all of the major employers of healthcare, all of the major players in the educational realm, and brought the community resources together so that we can help students and community members figure out a plan to get into the healthcare field,” said Mistry. “Whether it’s going into nursing, medical assisting, radiologic technology, or a vast variety of healthcare industries, we really just want people to find the right route for then, and to promote healthcare in the community.”
Mistry also said that Keiser University will continue working with the Tallahassee community to fill the labor shortage gaps and educate the community on finding meaningful careers in healthcare.
