Physical Therapy Assistant and Doctor of Chiropractic Program Learners Enjoy Rewarding Collaboration
Keiser University Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) and College of Chiropractic Medicine (CCM) students recently teamed to study weight-bearing and ambulative techniques to help patients safely become more mobile.
Led by Keiser University West Palm Beach campus PTA Program Director Dr. Kenneth Amsler, the exercise was part of the CCM’s Advanced Technique curriculum. “This lesson was invaluable, as chiropractic physicians often work with patients who are unable to completely weight bear or ambulate appropriately. Without PTA program faculty members and supplies, we would not be able to demonstrate the appropriate clinical use of ambulating devices such as crutches, canes, and wheelchairs,” said chiropractic faculty member Dr. Jennifer Illes.
The Doctor of Chiropractic program at Keiser University is a rigorous professional program consisting of ten semesters of study which are completed over 40 months. It combines traditional lectures with small group learning, weekly conferences and seminars, laboratory and experiential sessions, and clinical training opportunities at a number of sites. All coursework includes case-based relevancy for chiropractic practice as a portal-of-entry profession dedicated to excellence in spine care.
